File Transfer & File Sharing with the Web App

Due to its functional resemblance to Windows Explorer, users find the Web App very intuitive and easy to use without the need for tech support. Nonetheless, the following should provide more than adequate documentation to assist users in getting the most from this powerful browser-based file transfer application.

The Web App is designed for modern web browsers that fully support HTML5, therefore no plugins are required. It uses a responsive framework, therefore it reshapes itself to fit any desktop or mobile screen resolution.

A tutorial for using the WebApp can be found in this 45-minute recorded presentation. There are also short 2-5 minute videos with each topic on this page.

Navigation

Our WebApp has some unique and powerful components:

  • Directory Tree - The directory tree aids overall navigation for those with access to multiple folders, such as site administrators.
  • Upload Queue - The upload queue has several benefits that are explained further in the Upload how-to below.
  • Action Icons - Action icons appear when hovering a file or sub-folder. They provide a simple way to take action on the item being hovered. The same actions are available by right-clicking the file or folder name.

Downloading Files & Folders

There are multiple ways to download files and folders:

  • Click a file name. The download will immediately begin.
  • Use the Right-Click menu. Then choose Download.
  • Use the Action icon. Hover a file or folder to expose Action icons to the right of the file or folder name. Click the Download icon.
  • Use the Checkboxes. Tick the checkbox(es) next to the file(s) and folder name(s) you wish to download. Then click the Download button.

If you check off multiple files or folders (or just a single folder) for download, the resulting download will be a Zip file. This is the only way to preserve an entire recursive directory on download.

Most browsers will automatically save your files to your local Downloads folder. Other browsers may prompt you with a Save-as dialog.
