Folder Content

This screen allows an administrator to transfer files and manage folders, just like an end user, but with some elevated privileges.

Folder Types

There are two types of folders:

  • File-Folder-1 Folder with permissions inherited from its parent folder - These folders are identified by a solid black folder icon.

These are "standard sub-folders"; folders that may have been created manually via any file transfer application or perhaps auto-created by a drag-and-drop during a recursive file and folder upload.

  • File-Folder-2 Folder with unique permissions vs. its parent folder - These folders are identified by a colored folder icon with a check mark. The color is dependent on your Branding settings.

We call these Workspaces because someone has been assigned specific permissions within it or because some other setting (email notifications or Retention rules, for example) make it different than its parent

Navigation

Our Web App has some unique and powerful components:

  • Directory Tree - The directory tree aids overall navigation for those with access to multiple folders, such as site administrators.
  • Upload Queue - The upload queue has several benefits that are explained further in the Upload how-to below.
  • Action Icons - Action icons appear when hovering a file or sub-folder. They provide a simple way to take action on the item being hovered. The same actions are available by right-clicking the file or folder name.

Downloading Files & Folders

There are multiple ways to download files and folders:

  • Click a file name. The download will immediately begin.
  • Use the Right-Click menu. Then choose Download.

  • Use the Checkbox. Tick the checkbox(es) next to the file(s) and folder name(s) you wish to download. Then click the Download button.

If you check off multiple files or folders (or just a single folder) for download, the resulting download will be a Zip file. This is the only way to preserve an entire recursive directory on download.

Most browsers will automatically save your files to your local Downloads folder. Other browsers may prompt you with a Save-as dialog.
